From Traditional to Coastal...Diy Chalk painted table

What's a chick to do when she has too much time on her hands?...Why make over a table of course!

I did like this table, but I wanted to have a less formal feel in my dining room so I decided to give it a new look! Chalk paint is your friend! Instead of buying more chalk paint I decided to mix what I had! Although I love duck egg from Annie Sloan, I wanted more of a grayed blue so I mixed it with the black chalk paint to get the color I wanted! Make sure you make enough so that you don't have to try and match the same color!

My first coat! I actually only needed one more coat to get the look I wanted! Chalk paint goes very far and goes on a treat!

Once it dried I took some sand paper and lightly sanded the edges.

After sanding, use a finishing wax to protect it.

Onto the next step! The back legs were a little flimsy and I wanted to add a coastal feel to it so I wrapped the legs with rope! You can find this in Home Depot.

I never glued the rope, I just tied it very tightly!

Oh look! I found a job for my husband! He he!

Keep left over paint in a mason jar! You might need it for touch ups!

Or...use it to paint the rope like I did!... Afterthought... only because I never liked the rope color the way it was! It also adds texture and interest!

Ta- da!
I'm loving the new look! So fresh! I think I achieved the coastal look that I wanted!

I played around A LOT with the placement of things and finally decided on the storage book! Either way it looks nice!

Thanks for stopping by! Have a great week!
