A Nautical Bathroom Retreat!

Have you ever taken a vacation to a boathouse on the lake? Ah... doesn't that sound so nice and peaceful? That's what I wanted to achieve when Sarah asked me to design this space. She wanted a nautical, yet cottage, lake house feel!  I think I achieved it! She absolutely loves it! Come take a look!

BEFORE

This space was in need of paint and character! It's such a long room and needed attention to detail!

AND.....AFTER!
I just want to move in! The colors are vibrant, yet serene! It's fresh, interesting and more functional. The hooks on the large wall  hold extra towels instead of one rail stuck in one space!
The batten gives it character and breaks down the height and even length of the space now.

It's gorgeous now! We even added a little shelf on top where Sarah can put her candles. Her guests will love that!

Don't you just LOVE these oars? They are so perfect and exactly what we envisioned! We found them in T.J.Maxx! We just about made a dive for them as soon as we walked in the door! No I'm not kidding, because if you shop there you will know that you have to be athletic, agile and very fast if you want something!! They will fight you!! lol!

Perfect color, perfect size! The only thing was, they had the same numbers and when turned the other way the number would have been upside down.  I thought........hmmmmm, if I sand the 2 to make it look like a 7 that would be perfect! We now have the number 67! I sanded both numbers down so they looked worn and used, they turned out perfect!

BEFORE

AFTER

Ethan is Sarah and Ben's little boy, who's about to turn 1 years old! He is the cutest little guy ever! I painted these letters in his name. He can learn how to spell his name and it added a bit of color and fun to the space!

The anchor was a great choice to hang above here!

Here, we added extra storage for towels.

I created this piece of art by spray painting the frame, then used Pic Monkey, a great photo editing site to create my art! I did this by saving the striped picture first, then added the font!

We found the perfect tray and glass jars for this space! We looked for the little wooden or metal scoop for Sarah's bath salts, but couldn't find any, so for now I added a metal measuring spoon which is a good option until she finds one!

Aren't these towels just gorgeous? They are so perfect for this look!

The hooks are from Home Depot and cost $4.99 each! They are a perfect balance with the faucet and hardware!

As you can see we just did the batten and the shelf.  There was no need for the board! My husband did all of the wood work for me and I just filled in the cracks and painted! Hats off to him he did an amazing job as usual! The color on the top is Northern Pike by Sherwin Williams!

Here, you can see the lovely angle that he cut for each one!

I have to say that this space is so beautiful and I don't want to go home! Do you think they'll notice if I move in? lol!

Enjoy! x

Thanks for stopping.

  7. Awesome makeover! The wall colour is beautiful, the board & batten is a great detail, and the paddles and anchor and your homemade art are the perfect pieces to dress up the walls. Hooks for the towels are a great idea too - much for nautical than a towel rail :-) I'm sure Sarah and her family and guests love it :-)

    2. Shirley - I am in the process of doing a DYI nautical nursery and have been looking everywhere for a nice large oversized wall anchor, like the one you have, where did you find it? Also that doesn't break the bank!
