Coastal Beach House Dresser

While shopping at a local thrift store, I found this amazing dresser!  It is definitely an antique and really well put together!  It just needed a little TLC!

I thought I wanted to paint it an ocean blue color, but somehow it didn't look great! My thoughts were to strip the paint off the two top areas to give it more character and bring some warmth to this piece! That worked out as planned!

NOT A PRETTY SIGHT!

I love stripping off the paint and finding gorgeous wood underneath! Look at the movement and the tone, just stunning!

BEFORE

Luckily, the drawer liner was easy to come off! I didn't replace it, I just cleaned the drawers out with a nice fresh orange cleaner! Some of these old pieces can smell pretty bad!

I tried using many knobs, but somehow they never quite worked out!  In the end I painted the original knobs at the top to match the new ceramic ones on the bottom! Luckily, I had a light blue paint that matched pretty well! I used a coral stencil to add a little more detail to the knobs! Look at that grain! I stained the top with Early American by Miniwax!

I distressed the corners of each drawer to give it an old worn coastal look!

The drawers are awesome! They go from large to small all the way up! A really good solid piece!

I love my BEACH HOUSE sign! You can see how I made it HERE!
Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope that I have inspired you! Have a great week!

  3. Very nice job, indeed. You changed it from a baby nursery look to an attractive coastal piece. It's lovely. I saw your link at The Curator's Collection Party.
