Ten Minute Fall Vase & DIY Magnolia Wreath

Summer is almost over and I'm excited to start decorating for Fall. I was in the Dollar Tree last week and came across these lovely synthetic flowers, the vase and hemp are from Walmart. Today I'm sharing a simple way to brighten up your home on any occasion including, how to preserve magnolia leaves and how to make a magnolia wreath.

What you will need
Flowers from the Dollar Tree, $4
Hemp from Walmart, $5
Vase from Walmart, $3
Hot glue gun
TOTAL: $12
TOTAL TIME: 10 minutes.

Start by putting a dab of hot glue onto the hemp, stick it to the top of your vase where you would like it to start, then wrap the hemp around the vase until you are happy with how much coverage you would like. I wrapped it all the way to the bottom, so to cover the stems. Finish off with a dab of hot glue as you did in the beginning. Arrange your flowers and enjoy.

How to Preserve Magnolia Leaves

I have been preserving my magnolia leaves for about a week now. It's super easy!
 All you need is:
Magnolia leaves/branches
Glycerin
Water
Containers
Hammer

In a bowl or container, add 1 part glycerin, two parts water. Stir the mixture, then place leaves in the mixture making sure not to overlap. You will need to lay another container or plate on top of the leaves to keep then submerged into the mixture. Leave for about 3-4 days, then pat dry with paper towels. You can use the same technique for preserving your branches with the leaves still on them.Cut the ends of the branches, then lightly hammer each end of the stem to reveal the veins. Arrange the branches in the glycerin solution for about a month. Make sure you keep them out of direct sunlight.

DIY Magnolia Wreath

Arrange the leaves by size.

I found this floral foam holder in the Dollar Tree, it was the perfect size for my wreath. Start by sticking the smaller leaves into the foam, then work your way out using medium to large leaves until you are finished.

Easy, inexpensive and ready to hang for Fall.

Thank you for stopping by, have a safe and happy Labor Day.

  1. Lovely wreath! Did you soak your foam in water prior to beginning?

  2. No Maria, but that would make a lot of sense to do that, as it breaks very easily! Thanks for the tip!
