How to Create a Beautiful Outdoor Space

I've been busy getting my outdoor space ready for my family coming.  Better late than never! The weather was so nice today so I was able to spray paint outdoors and bring it all together.

I've had this set for a few years now so it was time for a fresh coat of stain. I used Dark walnut stain by Mini Wax. It's such a rich, warm color!

BEFORE
Definitely seen better days, but with the new stain it looks amazing!

Here are the pillows before I chalk painted them. They used to be very vibrant, but being outside in the sun for so long, they became faded. I mixed two tablespoons of calcium carbonate and one cup of latex paint, then added about a cup of water. I had to make a few more batches as I had six pillows to paint.

AFTER
The stool below was  turquoise, It too was faded and chipped. I don't have a before picture. I simply spray painted it with Rustoleum's painter's touch, extra cover. Now it has a new fresh look and works great with the grey pillows.

I loved the shape of this plaque that I found in Kirkland's, I can't find the before picture since I did this some  time ago. I chalk painted it with Rustoleum's black chalk paint, free handed the border and numbers, then dry brushed it with white latex paint.

It's amazing how you can transform the things you already have with just a little imagination and paint of course! I'm ready to enjoy my new outdoor space and my family!
Have a great week!

I'm thinking of a black and white outdoor rug! Hmmm... What are your thoughts?

Thanks for stopping by!

  1. Love this! Outdoor cushions always fade and you've come up with a great solution. Terrific colour choice too!

  2. I mean are the cushions stiff feeling or uncomfortable to sit on?

    1. They are a little stiff, but not uncomfortable at all!

  3. I see this post is from about a year ago. How did the cushions hold up?
