Coastal Style Casual Desk Makeover

I recently found this cute desk on Craigslist and couldn't wait to give it a new look! I LOVE all things beachy/coastal so it was easy for me to know what I wanted to do with it!

BEFORE!

The desk was in great shape, but for me it lacked interest!

Now, It has lots of character, color and interest! I love it!

I used a soft white chalk paint on the outside and Dixie Belle's Sea glass on the inside!

I added a new knob on the door and painted the drawer knobs and handles in a beachy blue! This hardware is gorgeous! I found a pack of four in Marshall's!

 I chose this scroll stencil to add a bit of interest to the edge!

 I added more detail by using a starfish and coral stencil to the  top of the drawers!

I don't have a finished picture yet for the front as I am deciding what phrase to write. Here is what it looks like!

I finally decided that the word "Beach" would be an appropriate choice to put on the desk and LOVE how it turned out!

I used this transfer technique.

 I printed out the picture, then rubbed over the words on the back of the page. It helps to tape it to a window because the light will show you where to cover! You then place it right side up so and start to trace around the words, so that the charcoal will rub off onto the desk. When completed, I took a bronze permanent marker and basically colored in the words!
